Thank goodness for Thanksgiving!

November 26, 2009

Whew! This morning, we’ve managed to bake a pumpkin pie, make truffles and prep gluten-free stuffing, and do some MAJOR cleaning. So I figured I’d take a break to blog and enjoy some homemade caramel apple cider.

I’m going to try to not think about wedding plans today. For someone like me, who can never make up her mind, and who either hates everything or loves too many ideas at once, this has been really exhausting. I’m one of those people who is always looking for something better, which really takes the fun away!

But despite all the worrying and anxiety over this wedding, I have so much to be thankful for! So I thought I’d take a moment to share that.

  1. In a few short months, I’m marrying a doting, goofy, intelligent, lovable man who can make me laugh or smile at any time. And even if we don’t agree in politics or things like that, we really are perfect for each other. And I so happy about that!
  2. We live a comfortable life in North Carolina, and, for the most part, we can enjoy a few of the finer things in life.
  3. My family members seem to have reached a really good point in their lives–and I love it when people know exactly where they’re going and love what they’re doing.
  4. Although I don’t get to see them very often, I have the best circle of friends around the world. And even though I’m not with them all the time, I don’t know what I would do without them!
  5. I managed to find a new job during the worst recession in decades, and even though it’s not my dream job in a dream location with dream coworkers, I’m thankful for it. I’m also thankful for some opportunities coming up, but I don’t want to jinx anything!
  6. Although I still don’t know what I want to make of my life, I am thankful to have sparked a few new passions this year, that all surfaced in this whole wedding planning thing–graphic design, calligraphy, blogging, and photography.
  7. And last but not least, I’m lucky enough to still have my best friend since 8th grade, that lovable 12-year-old pug named Kiley. She happens to be asleep on the back of the couch at the moment, and is still cute as ever.

I’m sure I’ve overlooked something, but now I’m getting distracted by the Macy’s parade on tv and I still need to dry my hair and get over to my mom’s! So to everyone out there, have a fantastic Thanksgiving!
